I believe in strong families, incentives for small businesses, protecting the authority
of rural school boards, the 2nd Amendment, enhancing access to medical care
for all residents, protecting our farms, and limiting the affect of the EPA on our
Eastern Washington lifestyle. I also believe in lower property taxes and protecting
individual property rights. We need to create jobs!
My opponent, the incumbent, is appointed and not elected by the people. Please Vote for Mike!

SMALL BUSINESSES: I’ve seen too many small businesses shut down.I would like to provide incentives so they continue to stay operational. We can’t reduce their B&O taxes as those revenues support other state programs. But I would like to give the small businesses who employ 15 people or less an incentive of, say, $1,000 per each part-time employee and, say, $1,500 per each full-time employee on a quarterly basis.
FARMS: We need to do something to save our farms. For decades, farms owned by families and individuals have been increasingly under pressure to sell out to large corporations or to close down completely.Currently, our farms are more and more dependent on receiving federal subsidies to stay in operation.
PROPERTY TAXES: I would like to limit the maximum increase in annual property taxes to no more than 10 % in any given year.In some areas of the district, property taxes went up anywhere from 25-100 % in assessed value. In other areas, property taxes actually decreased.I do not believe property owners should be surprised by such sudden increase in property taxes as they then have to scramble and find a way to pay the higher tax on such short notice.
MEDICAL CARE: I would like to increase reimbursed travel expenses for those citizens who must travel more than 15 miles to visit the doctor’s office. That’s a 30 mile roundtrip visit. Many of our citizens are covered by Medicaid and Medicare, and often, they choose not to travel to the doctor’s office simply because they don’t have enough money for gas and they know the doctor will probably require a follow-up visit, which would mean more gas money to return to the doctor.
EPA: Environmental regulations are strangling our businesses, our property uses, and our Eastern Washington way of life.I will include the federal and state agencies for this topic. We can’t put in a gasoline storage tank in the ground without endless paperwork, permits, and extended delays to get the necessary approvals. In Springdale, a local gas station burned down almost three years ago, and the new storage tank is still not in the ground. In mining and logging businesses, if there is “environmental run-off” the EPA will shut the business down.
RURAL SCHOOL BOARDS: I want to maintain the existence and authority of rural school boards. In January 2012, as a School Board Director, I attended a meeting in Spokane in which State Representative Ross Hunter-D (Medina), gave a presentation saying he wanted to get rid of the Levy and Equalization Act and assess all properties in Washington at the amount of $3.20 per assessed $1,000 value. The money would then go to Olympia with no guarantee it would be returned to the school districts in Eastern Washington.
2ND AMENDMENT: We have the right to bear arms, to protect our families, to protect our property, and to protect ourselves. The problem isn’t with law abiding citizens. The problem is with the criminal elements and the mentally unstable.
10TH AMENDMENT: This amendment allows individual states to decide how each state will govern their own jurisdiction. Our state needs to pass laws representing the desires of our citizens.Even if it they are in conflict with federal laws.
WOLVES: The government introduced wolves into the district as an “endangered species” which limits the options available to property owners to protect themselves.Instead of managing the wolves, the government introduced the packs to the area, and then walked away allowing the predators to do as they wanted. As an example of how irresponsible the government has been, the government isn’t even sure how many wolves we actually have today.
